5 Ways to Find the Best Orthopedic Surgeon In Turkey
Finding a good doctor was always hard. But after we invented the internet everyone on the planet advertises like they are the best ones. We do not claim that we are the best, our patients do, though. However, there are really good doctors in Turkey, especially if you know how to find them.
And, the list here will make your choice much better. We hope that is going to be a good guide.
1-) Find an Orthopedic Surgeon Who Focuses on Your Problem
Orthopedics is a field that has many different treatments from the highest point of your spine to the lowest point of your body. If you want to make a cosmetic change for your foot then a doctor who got no experience in foot esthetic surgery may cause a huge disappointment. Even though that doctor got 5-star reviews before, those reviews may be about arm pain or a herniated disc.
You may google your doctor and read the google reviews or Trustpilot Reviews to get even more review
And then, you may like to know your surgeon's education, classes, courses, and certificates which dramatically improve the success rate.
2- Find a Doctor Who Talks in English
If you're reading it from the UK that may sound funny. But this is a sad truth in Turkey. Since getting into a medical faculty and being a doctor is a very difficult thing, most of the doctors couldn't spare time to learn another language, and English is no exception.
But actually, being able to talk with your doctor directly is a real game-changer! Because translators have got no responsibility for a medical performance but the doctor has. You have to understand your doctor and the doctor should do the same, either.
The language barrier also builds another wall which is called fear. When you can talk to your doctor, the doctor may ease your feelings and explain everything one by one, with his words. This will be the moment you'll understand that you are in the right clinic. But imagine the opposite way; misunderstood treatments and/or surgeries would be a great source of stress.
3- Find a Clinic Which has an International Patient Department
Talking English with your doctor may be a great plus, but there might be tons of questions to ask, during your stay in Turkey. For example, ordering a pizza to your hotel room is a very simple task but if you don't know the correct websites or applications it may be real rocket science. If the clinic you're going to get your treatment has an international patient department, then they will arrange your hotel accommodation, transfers, your hospital stay and there will be a clinic member with you who focuses on your mental and medical happiness.
4- Ask for an Estimated Treatment Plan & Cost Breakdown
You may need Knee Replacement Surgery. After you sent your X-rays and medical history form, the doctor may say "Knee Replacement needed, and that is the cost." but those are just words. There are different methods, and surgeries, such as Partial Knee Replacement or Total Knee Replacement and each has different prices. When a clinic sends an "estimated treatment plan" then it makes everything more professional which is a great plus.
Cost Breakdown is another important thing to understand where your money goes. Some clinics' extra services are expensive, and you may want to avoid those "extra" services. So, seeing a detailed breakdown of your accommodation, transfers, treatment, and medications is very informative.
5- Contact The Clinic or Doctor
This is our last suggestion but not the least. Medical tourism is a very big business that's why there are dozens of medical tourism agencies. A negative side of the 3rd party companies is not the commission rate, actually. They may promote the wrong treatment. A salesman or a middle-man is not an M.D, a doctor, or a surgeon. The lack of knowledge in health and treatments should not be underestimated. A patient who's looking for treatment for his knee pain may be treated with 4 months of physiotherapy or exercise. That's why speaking to the clinic is always the best option. No need to say, that will be more affordable, as well!
